Shimano GRX Limited Edition Gravel Groupset

An outtake from last years Handmade Bicycle Show Australia, this Baum Orbis was fitted with a 'GRX limited' groupset from Shimano. Featured here is the 2 x 11s speed mechanical drivetrain, and hydraulic brakes. There is a flat bar version available with what looks like the easily recognisable XT shifter and brake lever.

High polish finishes are an anomaly in the sea of anodised ensembles - so it was a breath of fresh air to see this. Even if it's limited to some degree.

The finish and assembly of the Baum Orbis fuselage invites you to zoom - zoom - zoom in. You won’t find any flaws - just magnified perfection.

The 2x option has a rear derailleur suit to a maximum 34t cog. The 1x version uses the XT cassette up to 42t.

The groupset also offers a carbon wheelset - 25mm internal / 32mm high and minimally branded.

Now a thing of the distant past in the MTB sphere, the GRX mechanical front derailleur is a classy component, with a chrome plated finish. You'll also note the superb soldered finish by Chris Fry who has been with Baum over a decade, and is a man of many talents, wrenching at the pro-tour level at Tour Down Under when he's not at Baum Cycles.
