If you're looking for a ride with extra spice - then look no further.

Departing Hurstbridge Station every day of the week - this 50/50 mix has epic grades and views to match.

 RETRACE THIS ROUTE

This one is a 2+ bidon ride and pack lots of snacks.

Stonehouse Bakery in Hurstbridge is a great spot to get sweet treats pre-ride, though Black Vice has better coffee and a more bougie aesthetic.

At the top of the hill you can get food in Kinglake before bombing down Glenburn to start the epic Powerline Track.

Flying Tarts in Pheasant Creek is a great food stop for the way back to civilisation.

The grades are STEEP.   I had a 40:44 maximum and while I didn't get off to walk - another couple of teeth in the year would be welcomed.

In the bag - Snacks, snacks and more snacks!  Drone, battery bank, USB cable, gloves, emergency poo tickets, neck warmer.

This is where the climbing starts in earnest.  Bald Spur is the gnarliest of the three gravel routes up the front side of Kinglake.  Bowden is the better known for the powerlines and switchbacks.  Beale is only slightly less evil than Bald.

Powerline Track heading south from Glenburn.   My kind of gravel.

Epic views with Wedgetails riding the thermals.

Current setup.

SERK A21 with SRAM 1X Apex.  Titanium frame, carbon fork with flip chip and nuovo-camo cerakote finish.  Twin fork mounts, three bidon mounts, mounts for rack and fenders!  Love my fenders and so do my shorts.

The SRAM Apex mechanical 40t with 11-44t has enough range to get up and bomb down almost everything.

Skingrowsback lunchbox, wedge and flashpacker allows you to take heaps of gear for long day rides.
