Like all Speedvagen’s this Fruit Tingle inspired HOLLATEXT features those curvy stays made in house, stainless steel facets to protect the paint at contact points and BESERKER rear dropouts.  The tubing is selected from True Temper and Columbus, drawn to super thin wall thickness for an incredibly light weight.  The downtube is bi-axially ovalized akin to my favourite tubeset of old – Columbus MAX.

The parts lists ranges from Campagnolo Super Record ensemble, to ENVE-able cockpit with painted stem and carbon bars and those Lightweight OVERMEYER Schwartz hoops with Lightweight branded Continental tubs.

The paint is the HOLLATEXT design which is SPEEDVAGEN RACING in a fine stencil with a transition over a solid base.  The brilliant white base is a great choice for the pink-orange-yellow fluoro gradient which was pulled from the owners first road bike – a Roadmaster from Kmart.  A far cry from this two wheeled Unicorn.

The proof of the pudding is in the ride, and it was qualitatively faster, quantified with a fresh set of PBs at the recent Tour Down Under.  Not bad when pitted against the likes of a BAUM Coretto and Colnago C59.  Not that was the motivation for choosing this Speedvagen, but feel the promise of a great riding bike was delivered.

It would be remiss not to mention the remastering of the Arione saddle by Mick Peel | Busyman Bicycles. Combined with the bartape, it is the cherry on top a super sweet bike.

Like the frame, it is made by hand.

It’s details like these which make the bike no faster, no lighter, no more utilitarian, but an absolute visual treat every time you see it.
