This Specialized StumperJumper PRO was hotter than a summers day when it rolled out of bike shops in the early 90s, decked out with Suntour XC Pro and a range of Specialized branded components by Nitto and is the pin-up for January in the 2022 FYXO Bicycle Calendar.

While the feel and experience riding a vintage road bike might not seem so far removed from a modern ride, MTB is a different story.  Advances in design and components have made the trail experience transformative.   Still, it's hard not to get misty eyed about the bone-shaking bikes you grew up with.

It's been nearly a decade years since I took these shots of Stumpy outside of Golden Saddle Cyclery, which just celebrated it's 10 year anniversary.  The owner is Sean Talkington of Team Dream Team / The Cub House fame.

This is a far cry from the Eagle 50t cassettes spreading their wings on bikes today.  7 speed cluster with a narrow range, and 3x up front.

You'll find this beauty and many more in the 2022 FYXO Bicycle Calendar.
