Very Important #2!
This is like condiments. Life is better with condiments.
What to bring
We strongly suggest a good sense humour as this event is a lot of fun
Items which may be useful on the day:
- Your bike and helmet.
- A warm jacket.
- Gloves.
- Spare socks (cold feet is zero fun)
- Cash or card.
- Phone.
- Battery bank to recharge phone.
- Bike tools.
- Pump and spare tube(s).
- Bike lock (for long lunch stops)
This is my first Roobaix. What can I expect?
Roobaix is a bicycle adventure of lo-fi proportions!
At the start, you'll get your rider pack with your map, a manifest (list of questions), a pen, and other goodies.
The PAPER MAP is the famed Melway with the suggested route, and the bumpy sectors.
The chillest route is marked on the map to guide you from sector to sector, but you can make your own way to Roobaix. Skip a sector or two, have a long lunch at Bridge Road Brewers and take a shortcut to the finish. Just make it to Roobaix for the prize ceremony at 3:30pm.
By the Numbers
Distance: 38km total
Sectors: 13
Elevation: 250m
The route is NOT a closed course to other vehicles and you need to consider all other road users and road laws at all times.
Navigate with ease
At every turn there are visual cues to aid your journey to Roobaix.
There is a QR code on the map to give you access to the suggested route on your device(s).
Strava, Ride With GPS, or a TCX file and it is only available on the day.
What should I ride?
Whatever you choose to ride Roobaix - it must be safe to ride AND not a hazard to yourself or others.
You can choose road, gravel, singlespeed, tandem, unicycle, MTB, BMX, trike, new school, retro cool, classic, cargo, low rider, tall bike, e-bikes, adaptive, recumbent, super expensive or hard rubbish finds. All are welcome.
Our suggestion - BIG TYRES!
What are the rules?
There is only one.
Don't be a dick.
We all want to get home safely, and that may mean being extra courteous to another road user EVEN IF THEY ARE A DICK!
Salt and pepper #3.
For a little extra zing.
Prizes? Prizes!
Everyone is eligible to to win prizes in the raffle draw.
Make sure your manifest is in the PINK barrel at the Village by 3.30pm. It's next to the podium / stage.
The 'FYXO Grand Prize' may only be won by a complete and correct manifest.
More details on the category prizes are below.
The weather
Whatever it IS - it will be cold.
If it rains - you may get wet.
The FINISH location is a grass field and may be WET from dew, rain or both.
Dress appropriately for the long day outside.
The event will go ahead* rain, hail and (we hope) SHINE!

One last thing.
This was nearly THE LAST ROOBAIX for a host of reasons and we could not continue to put on this event to the level (and price) without the support of our sponsors AND supporters.
You're probably familiar with their logos - but there's people behind all the partnerships, and if you've made it this far, stick with me like they have stuck with us - in thanking them.

Sponsors
SURLY
Adam at SCV. Thanks for riding this emotional rollercoaster with me with unwavering support.
Stu, who took a massive risk by supporting a Surly 'Super fan / bike dork' and offered to support FYXO even if we called time on Melburn Roobaix.
Thank you from both Melodie and myself.
Knog
Colin, Hunter and Hugo - the founder of this iconic Melbourne born global brand. Won't be the last you see them as part of the FYXO family.
Off Course
Dunk Huw at the finish, and high five Will at the shop on the day. Melbourne's coolest bike shop - if only according to me. They have a huge shop of incredibly passionate and knowledge staff including Simon, Caff, Kia, Mike, Zeke, Liam, P, Finn, Reuben (and Mik out the back). Huw's hustle at MADE in 2024 was absolutely inspiring and can't wait to ride more with the OC crew.
Bridge Road Brewers / East Brunwick Village
Ben Kraus, Brewer and Biker! Supporter and creator of great bike events. Also 20 years deep into his dream of doing something different. Raise your glasses to him at the bar.
PLUS an epic food experience awaits everyone mid-ride and an incredible list of post-ride bonus to drag you back to EBV thanks to April, Bianca and Des.
Genovese Coffee
Emilio, Ray and the entire staff at Genovese, providing coffee for my serious habit, brew bags in the musettes AND the incredible space to hold the BIKE SWAP MEET(S)! Grazie.
Quad Lock
Founders Rob and Chris were part of the event in 2019 and have been with us ever since. Thanks to Dom, Jayden, Jacinta, Campbell, Quyen, Natasa (answering all the social messages!) and the entire squad. Look for them in the crowd Sunday.
Zwift
Late to the party - but here to rock it for '26 and '27! Thanks to Wes at Zwift Australia for supporting bike kooks broadly, and for Beardy's photographic reporting which I can't wait to enjoy. Ride on!
Supporters
Goodnessme NZ
Kiwi goodness in every single rider pack. Delicious, healthy, vegan and gluten free. The perfect cycling snack - available at Woolies.
Skingrowsback
Jamie and I have been mates before FYXO was even thought of -and we've both built longstanding brands around the lifestyle we love. Made right here in Melburn!
Gozney
Can you believe it! So many of you have bought these world class pizza ovens off the back of watching us that they've levelled up to support Melburn Roobaix.
Bicycle Network
Thanks Mark, Alison, Matilda and the team at Bicycle Network for their work beyond event day to put on excellent events, and make all our journeys better. Give them a high-five when you park your bike!
AusCycling
Thanks Kipp and the team for helping us provide cover for all of you on event day.
Melbourne Polytechnic
Thanks Jy for letting us take over the carpark - public space is a challenge to secure, and we appreciate this awesome slice of Melbourne.
Brunswick Cycling Club
Thank you Ben, El Presidente.
Thank you glorious stadium for cycling.
Thank you, David Morgan - Mr. Pink. The only person with a heart bigger than Phar Laps. We love you and appreciate you welcoming us into your home for the last Sunday in June, every year since 2006.
See you Sunday.
RIDE SAFE!
Melodie & Andy FYXO.
