PATEBURY –  maker of fine leather goods do bartape, saddles and straps but at the sharp end of the custom spectrum with an aesthetic all their own.

Few had heard of Busyman Bicycles before he popped up here years ago, and now it seems there is a barely a single Baum that doesn’t feature Mick Peel’s leather bar tape or embossed saddle.  It’s been great to see a local artisans work admired and ridden in all corners of the globe. aelping pump up the tyres of those whose work I like is just one of the things I do.

PATEBURY burst onto the scene just prior to the Australian Custom Bicycle Show and thankfully they were part of the innaugral show after some arm twisting. After seeing Cameron and Joram’s work in the flesh a light bulb went off in my head.

This is what it looked like.

Rather than searching long and hard for another NOS Sella Italia RS saddle for an Eddy Merckx Professional project I wondered how well the boys could construct a saddle that was a hat tip to the original, and with the personalisation I’d like if it was my own bike.

I’ll let you be the judge of how well they executed the brief.
