‘Trails don’t build themselves’
If you aren’t the type to venture off bitumen, let alone gravel then this post may not interest you.
A good tool is hard to find and this is no different. Rather than carry a mattock, rake, pick – this all in one is the answer to a trail builders prayers. Unlike the Swiss Army Knife which has all the tools, none of which are particularly masterful for the task – the Tall Beast is a beautiful thing to swing.
Made in New Zealand, the Warlord Fabrications ‘Tall Beast’ is made from certified ORC Steel sourced from organic producers of course. Amongst its many properties for wielding death to dirt, it oxidises rapidly to form a protective coating. I hit mine with multiple grades of sandpaper to bring out the shine you see but know that it will fade fast.
Its maker is responsible for many of the props found from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Many orcs died during the research and development process of the WARLORD BattleAxe Tallbeast Trail Tool.
One of the lesser known features is it will also act as a sun-dial should you not have a time piece on you. When the sun goes below the horizon – it’s time for tools down.
The Tall Beast doesn’t come with an instruction manual, so I asked for some advice on each edges properties. See updated image.
Clockwide from left – Lightly fluffy stuff, slaughter, maim and kill.
It’s comes as a head only to suit a 38mm diameter handle. 8mm HEX nuts and bolts are supplied. I got wingnuts initially so I could easily remove the handle for portage but have since got a bag to carry it. Unable to source a fibreglass locally, the tool shown uses Australian hardwood, painted in ‘safety orange’ which is rather handy for spotting your tool in long grass.
Yes – each tool comes with a bottle opener. The GRAVE DIGGER model comes with two!
Each WARLORD BattleAxe Tallbeast Trail Tool is made to order, and can be engraved with whatever you like. I kept M I N E simple. The Warlord is about to embark on another production run so strike while the steel is hot – Get your own!
