Project Description

It’s been a long time between singlespeed conversion drinks – and if you are going make a Corsa cocktail you might as well as do it right.

MD wanted something cool to roll around town on for errands because he didn’t want to ride his work bike and driving is well, driving.

I happened to have a Molteni frame hanging around in his size, and that kicked off the beginning of the build.  I flicked this classic image his way for inspiration.

‘DO IT!’ was the reply – or words to that effect.

The build is classic without going OTT.  Many of the hard to source parts that ultimately wear out have been substituted for inexpensive and reliable options like the sealed bearing wheelset, headset, pedals and post.  When the time comes, it’s a good chunk of the way towards the geared classic above.

The setup and measurements were replicated from MD’s Scott Addict, and the first ride feedback – ‘So so smooth!  It’s better than my Scott!’

Job done.  Look out for it cruising the cobbles of Northcote and cafes of the Inner North.

Before you ask – FYXO chainrings will be making an appearance again in the shop very soon.
