The Tour Down Under has be one of the great Australian mancations.

Bikes, hills, food, wine, sun AND there is a bike race going on.

If you have already been, going again is already a no-brainer.

The event crescendo has to be the penultimate stage which travels twice up Old Willunga Hill.  I tagged on to the Norwood CC group ride which was superbly supported including food and drink on the hill, with a pair of complimentary club slippers included.

Along the way I crossed paths with Simon Mottram, creator of Rapha, who needs no introduction.  I’ve followed the Rapha story since it’s beginning when two of my London courier mates, Pretty Boy and Pink Nick were flown to Tuscany for their launch shoot.

Simon’s machine – a steel Explorateur in a desirable shade of pink, with Ritchey Breakaway fittings making it the perfect ride for one is travelling frequently.  The other notable standout component are the Broby rims.
